Abstract

The work of this project required four organizations to look at themselves, as if looking in a mirror, and reflect on what they saw with regard to their structures, systems, policies, and procedures. Guided by the FATAE, their reflections focused on principles of equity and justice. As we analyzed the processes each organization undertook, and as we read their resulting chapters, we were able to see some important lessons the four cases suggest. They have not found some magic formula for their success, and they still work toward further implementing their ideals. However, as exemplars of organizations that commit to and live into principles of justice and equity, these four cases have lessons to share. This chapter reviews our observations and allows us also to reflect on what we learned from working with these four organizations. What we discovered, we believe, is of value to any organization seeking to operate justly and equitably.
