Finding Extra 10% Electricity in Crystalline Si Solar Cells using PDMS Coating and Three-dimensional Cell Arrays

Abstract

Considering the solar panel in urban environment, standard testing condition, such as 1 sun (1.5 A.m.), is very strong light compare to light intensity in everyday life, does not fully apply the electricity production capability due to performance degradation under oblique and weak illumination. The simple modification of the encapsulation material utilizing PDMS coatings and module fabrication with 3-dimensional structure have found 13.4% extra electricity of solar panels with given Si based solar cells. Re-capture the reflected light at Si solar cell surface textures by PDMS coating, increase power production under oblique or scattered light through 3-dimensional module.
