Abstract

Study Objectives: First, we determined whether patient provided information (PPI) regarding advance directives (AD) can be verified in existing hospital records at the time of emergency department visit (EDV). Next, factors associated with the presence of ADs, and the degree of EOL agreement between patients (verified ADs), and physicians (Code status) was estimated. Last, we assessed whether verified ADs were followed at the time of patient death, from reviewing available death notes.
