Abstract

The biggest challenges currently facing the international banking sector is the current financial crises, which threaten its financial stability. Several studies in the fields of banking and finance have shown that Islamic banks are more financially secure and stable than conventional banks, especially with regards to withstanding the effects of Islamic banks compared to conventional banks within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Quarterly data, dating from 2005 to 2009 is used to establish a result, seeing as this period is characterized by the global financial crisis, the result of this research is of special importance.
