Abstract
Practice based commissioning (PBC) is central to Government reform of the NHS in England. The Department of Health (DH) states that, ‘PBC is central to world class commissioning and is our most powerful way of reaching in to local communities. It is a crucial method through which PCTs and practices can work together to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities’ (DH, 2007).
