Abstract

This two-part study aims at identifying occurrences related to market abuse and irregularities in the financial services sector and their impact on the operation of insurance intermediaries in Poland. While analyzing Polish and foreign literature as well as reports published by financial market institutions, the author discusses selected examples of such incidents, which are not only characteristic of domestic market practice, to indicate the sources of legal risk. What is more, he points out that these factors pose a threat to the operation of insurance intermediation entities, thus creating the necessity to establish and implement appropriate legal risk management processes. Part I of the article focuses on risk factors related to misselling on the insurance market.
