Abstract

The Republic of Korea occupies the southern portion of the Korean peninsula, with Japan to the east and mainland China to the west. The main commercial centres are Seoul, Inchon (Seoul’s port city) and Pusan (the southern port city). The Koreans themselves are a homogeneous, ethnically mongoloid people with their own traditional language and alphabet, Hangul.
