Abstract

Managed care brings a new set of financial issues to the home health care industry. Beginning with how home health care agencies gain access to managed care markets, financial issues are explored for agency preparation; management information system (MIS) needs; contracting re quirements, including risk sharing and capitation issues; and for a vision of the future for home care in the managed care arena. Organizational changes required to compete in the managed care market are explored from a financial perspective as home health care providers break out of the traditional Medicare mind-set into the managed care setting, where creativity and program expansions are necessary.
