Abstract
Among the wide range of opportunities for physicists, the world of finance is certainly one of the most exciting. The trading of stocks and other financial products is becoming increasingly prominent in our society, with more and more news broadcasts devoted to financial information. Meanwhile, the Dow-Jones index of stocks and shares – together with the FTSE 100, the DAX and other financial indicators – are followed closely by a wide range of institutional and private investors. All in all, the financial sector represents a rapidly growing business area that is both fascinating and guaranteed to straddle international boundaries.
