Abstract
Autofrettage is key process in thick cylinder manufacturing, where internal residual stresses were produced by applying pressure at inner bore of cylinder. These residual stresses are also known as Locked-in stresses which will neutralize few of Hoop stresses or Maximum Von-Mises stresses in the cylinder as they are opposite in nature. So there is reduction in working stresses of cylinder due to Autofrettage. In Autofrettage it is very important to decide right pressure for hydraulic cylinder, as low pressure design leads to underutilization of material & high pressure selection leads to problems related to safety & hardening effect. To study and optimize the pressure of Hydraulic Cylinder used for Industrial Power Pack, analytical method is used & same is compared with FEM results.
