Abstract

Abstract Immobilization of microalgae for final cattle manure teatment has not been reported. The immobilization of two different strains of eucaryotic algae and the influence of the support media on the reactor are described. Polyurethane media shows better behaviour as support for the immobilization of microalgae than sodium alginate. Also, the results open the possibility to use immobilized microalgae for ammonia nitrogen and orthophosphate removal.
