Abstract

Photoelectron spin polarization (ESP) measurements and energy distribution curves (EDC) on Fe 3O 4 are interpreted using atomic theory. The combined data yield shapes and positions of the oxygen 2p-bands and the 3d n−1 states of Fe ions with a reliability previously not attained. Results are compared with EDC's on Fe x O.
