Abstract

In this Symposium, five investigators from different research institutions will present findings from six prospective studies of production workers to assess workplace risk factors for carpal tunnel syndrome and other upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders. The presenters will focus on workplace physical and psychosocial factors, which were measured at the individual level. The data from all sites were pooled for the analysis of carpal tunnel syndrome yielding a total sample size of 4321 workers from 57 different companies. While the primary findings from the pooled analysis have been published, the presenters have conducted additional analyses to explore important interactions between exposures and new dose-response relationships that have not yet been published. Questions will be collected from the audience and speakers to guide the discussion.
