Abstract

Within this exegesis I engage the frameworks of liminal space, architectures of containment and fictive space as mechanisms to create a dialogue between the movement of objects and architectural contexts from old to new as we transition into an increasingly virtual age. This is a studio research investigation, which engages in concepts of containment and transparency through formal, makeshift and theatrical modes of production, materials and form. The theoretical underpinnings of the research draw on concepts of containment and transparency. Artists and theorists, who are used as examples of ways in which a differential practice of creative becoming can be achieved through re-framing liminal space. This project engages in acts of 'looking again', witnessing and documenting the movement of objects, form and bodies. This is done in order to gain an intimacy and awareness of the mechanisms of grandeur and power behind the 'illuminated void' and frameworks of authority.
