Abstract

Calculations performed with a computer revealed that a change in the contact angle theta over a wide range 30/sup 0/ < theta < 150/sup 0/, with a simultaneous change in the coefficient of surface tension ..cap alpha.. from 0.00004 to 0.00009 kg/cm, corresponding to various amounts of surfactant added to the water injected into the seam, has practically no effect on the pressure distribution in the coal seam; the pressures in the same cross section at various above-indicated values of ..cap alpha.. and theta differ by tenths of an atmosphere. This indicates that incorporation of a surfactant into the water has little effect on water injection into the seam.
