Abstract
Abstract A fundamental study on filtration and dewatering of fine coal is described. Experiments are being conducted in three areas: (1) The microscopic analysis of filter cakes, (2) The measurement of equilibrium desaturation and (3) The determination of filtration and dewatering rates. Preliminary experimental results are presented together with some observations on the microstructure of filter cakes. A three dimensional network model has also been developed and is being used to analyze experimental data.
