Abstract

We use the analogy with the transmission properties of the random dimer system to model a system of random monolayers and study the transmission of light for different disorder strengths. We show the existence of unity resonant transmission peaks, corresponding to extended modes, controlled by the thickness of the layers. These peaks become narrower if we increase the refractive index of the impurity layers or their number. The very high resolution of the transmitted light leads us to discuss the possibility of making high quality light filtering devices based on such a layered system.
