Abstract

The multiparameter radar measurements used for rainfall estimation typically include reflectivity (Z/sub H/), differential reflectivity (Z/sub DR/) and specific differential propagation phase (K/sub DP/). Each of the above measurements have different spatial variability scales. Thus rainfall estimates from each set of measurements have different spatial variabilities. For example specific differential phase (K/sub DP/) is estimated as slope of differential phase measurements (/spl Phi/(DP)). Filtering of /spl Phi/(DP) at various scales may influence accuracy and scale variability of /spl Phi/(DP) measurements. This paper presents scale analysis, and multiresolution analysis of multiparameter radar measurements.
