Abstract

In this paper, we propose a filter-and-forward (FF) relay scheme with energy harvesting for single-carrier transmission in frequency-selective channels. The relay node harvests energy from both the source node's transmit signal and own transmit signal by self-energy recycling. Its received signal is filtered to suppress inter-symbol interference (ISI) and then forwarded to the destination node using the harvested energy. We determine the filter coefficients to maximize signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio (SINR) under a relay transmission power constraint. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed scheme improves with increasing the filter length and using the self-energy recycling.
