Abstract

A mechanical filter design for vibration isolation between multi-resonant structures is presented. In this approach, the source and load characteristics are first modified so that a favorable condition for filter insertion is created. The low-pass m-derived sections are then employed to achieve the required minimum insertion loss over a broad frequency band. The proposed mechanical filter configuration is seen to be unique. Some limitations of its application in practice are discussed.
