Abstract
The emergence of antibiotic persistence has showed new universal threat beside the antibiotic resistance. Klebsiella pneumoniae is a significant bacterium causing wide range of infections and diseases. The present work aimed to investigate the antibacterial, antibiofilm, and antipersister cells formation effect of indole against Klebsiella pneumonia. Fifty isolates of K. pneumoniae were collected from different clinical specimens and identified using genotypic identification by using specific primer for 16S rRNA gene. The eradication effect of indole on K. pneumoniae persister cells were detected using well diffusion method. The MIC was employed by using the 96-well broth micro dilution assay. The biofilm inhibition activity of indole was determined using a microtiter plate assay. The results of the current study showed that a indole operatively eradicate the persister cells and inhibit the biofilm formation of persistence isolates of K. pneumoniae.
