Fifth trombay symposium on radiation chemistry and photochemistry

Abstract

The fifth Trombay Symposium on Radiation Chemistry and Photochemistry was held in Mumbai (former Bombay) on January 12-17, 2000. It was organized on the basis of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Trombay (near Mumbai). The Trombay symposiums are organized biennially. Dr. J.P. Mittal and Dr. T. Mukherjee were the chairmen of the symposium. Along with Indian scientists, specialists from Austria, France, Germany, Hong Kong (the People's Republic of China), Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United States, and the United Kingdom took part in the symposium. The total number of participants was around 400. The program of the symposium covered many branches of radiation chemistry and photochemistry. Most attention was focused on primary radiationchemical and photochemical processes and properties of transient species in radiolytic and photolytic reactions. The relevant studies have been performed using pulse radiolysis and laser photolysis (including fastresponse techniques with femtosecond and picosecond time resolution).
