Abstract

The Fifth Generation Computer Systems project has been performed by ICOT (Institute for New Generation Computer Technology) for 4 years. This project covers a broad area of computer science such as computer architecture, language systems, and knowledge base systems. Results have been published as research papers and annual reports, and have influenced many researchers in related fields. However, they do not provide systematic explanation on project results. This book provides a basic and systematic description abut the project results during the first three years. This book covers the entire results of the 3 years of research on the Fifth Generation Computer Systems project. It is composed of three parts, kernel language, knowledge engineering and architecture.
