Abstract
Dunng 1968-59, 36,937 blrds of 216 species meie banded, and 6336 recovrrles of 99 specles resulted, including 3701 individuals not previously recovered. The proportion of young to free flymg birds is reversed as compared to 1937-38. Since 1953, 103,678 birds of 253 species have been banded, and 10,760 (10 3 per cent ) have been recovered 17,809 times (17 1 per cent ) The silver gull, Larus novae hollandiae Stephens, accounted for 14.864 of the brds banded 14,268 of these were young.
