Abstract

This paper is part of my effort to understand an awkward moment that occurred after my fieldwork in some communities of Bajo Aragón (Spain), where I was studying the drum rhythms performed during Holy Week. Alternating between first‐person narrative accounts of my experiences, photographs, copies of correspondence between myself and friends in the field, followed by interpretations and analysis, I hope to lead the reader to an understanding of the problem caused by the publication of my ethnography. Ultimately, eschewing summary conclusions, I leave the paper open for multiple interpretations.
