Abstract

The paper presents a rigorous algorithm for the electrodynamical analysis and design of two kinds of E-plane waveguide quasi-planar filters. The theoretical analysis is based on the generalised multi-mode scattering matrix techniques in conjunction with the spectral-domain approach and space-domain integral equation method. The principal feature of the method consists of utilisation of complete sets of adequate basis functions corresponding to the field behaviour near the metal and dielectric discontinuities of the filter structures. Numerical and experimental results are shown for K-band bandpass filters. The calculated results agree well with experimental data.
