Abstract
The grease is made from an alkylbiphenyl gelled with a sodium antate. Bearing performance is outstanding without radiation; data are cited at 250, 300, and 350 deg F. Resistance to ionizing radiation is good. Changes in familiar properties are shown before and after a static gamma dose of 7 x 10/sup 8./ rads. The grease was tested in a reactor; in the presence of neutrons and gammas. Several tests were made in small motois at 6400 rpm. In the last test, the grease permitted operation for about 2500 hours; the equivalent absorbed dose is 34 x 10/sup 8/ rads. (auth)
