Abstract

This paper presents a novel design and implementation of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based Direct Torque Control (DTC) of an Induction Motor Drive fed by Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The Space Vector Modulation (SVM) based control of VSI results in low steady state torque ripples, current distortions and fast transient response in the motor drive. An FPGA adds flexibility in speed of the control system with its reconfigurable architecture, fast prototype, reduction in execution time delay.
