Abstract

The response of lentils, soybeans, faba beans, and peanuts to nitrogen fertilization and inoculation with rhizobia was measured. With mixed strain inoculation of peanut, there were significant increases in dry matter (DM) and nitrogen contents, which were significantly different from those of the nitrogen fertilized treatment. Differences in response were recorded between peat-based and liquid inoculants. In soybean, there was a significant yield response with inoculation which varied with the rhizobial strain. For lentils, there was a significant increase in yield with strains TAL 638 and Nit. 92A3 and with nitrogen fertilization, although differences between the two treatments were not significant. There was a significant response in faba beans to inoculation with strain TAL 1400.
