Abstract
A field ion microscope investigation of Fe-W alloys produced a field evaporation sequence showing the gradual disappearance of a twin segment. Boundary movement permitted an analysis of the twin in terms of the crystallographic indices of its shear plane and plane of symmetry. The twin is shown to be incoherent by definition and to have nonplanar boundaries. Field ion micrographs of the twin and a stereogram tracing boundary movement during field evaporation are presented.
