Abstract

Making use of an anisotropic tight binding model for Bechgaard salts we calculate the spin density wave transition temperature in a magnetic field in the b′ − c ∗ plane. In general the field induced spin density wave (FISDW) state is characterized by a set of intergers (n,m), though in the high field region ( H > 5 T) the FISDW is dominated by the state with m = 0. We find a dip in T c ( H, φ) at φ = φ c = tan −1( b/ c)≅30° for the even n state, which should be readily observable experimentally.
