Abstract

The isothermal magnetization of the Er0.9Lu0.1Fe2O4 compound was investigated and analyzed carefully in this work. A magnetocaloric effect measurement was employed to reveal complex ferrimagnetic phase transitions. A field-induced phase transition was found in the temperature range of 208 to 240 K for applied fields from 0.7 to 1.5 T. A complex magnetic phase diagram was established based on the magnetization curves. Ferrimagnetic clusters with Fe-ion interactions of different origins were hypothesized to be responsible for the ferrimagnetic phase separation.
