Abstract
AC-susceptibility measurements of the dimer compound Cs 3Cr 2Br 9 show clear evidence for a field induced magnetic ordering between 1 and 2 K with field strengths ranging from 30 to 50 kG. The order is anisotropic with respect to the field direction. The results are discussed in terms of soft-mode theory in the random phase approximation as well as a static molecular-field model.
