Abstract

An interpretive programme is described that is designed to involve National Park visitors in interpretation of a complex metamorphic terrane. Careful structuring allows each visitor to become part of a research team, learning not only about the area but how to become a scientist and how to learn through observation about the geology of other areas. Participation leads to increased appreciation of natural-area preservation and increased autonomy in learning about the natural world.
