Abstract

In this study, field emission from potassium (K-) doped vertically aligned carbon nanosheets is examined. The potassium doping was carried out by dipping samples in potassium hydroxide aqueous solution, which was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the K-doping reduced the work function of vertically aligned carbon nanosheets. Field emission characteristics of the K-doped vertically aligned carbon nanosheets were measured, showing that the reduction of the work function resulted in lower emission barrier and led to lower turn-on voltage and less limitation of the emission current at high voltage region.
