Abstract

In this study, the field emission behavior of titanium alloy nanosheets is observed for the first time. The titanium alloy nanosheets on titanium alloy substrate display low turn-on and threshold field, whose values are 3.02 V/μm and 4.51 V/μm, respectively. In addition, the titanium alloy nanosheets exhibit excellent emission stability over a period time of 1200 min. Such good field emission properties can be attributed to the relatively low work function and abundant tip structures for electrons emitting. These results show the potential of titanium alloy nanosheets as a cathode material in field-emission devices.
