Abstract
Energy distributions of electrons emitted from a LaB 6(100) field emission tip are reported. Field emission energy distributions obtained with tip temperature greater than 1000 K show significant density of states effects at energies above E F. The polarization dependence of the photofield emitted current taken with laser illumination of energy hω = 2.710 eV provides evidence for photoexcitation into bulk states before electron emission into the vacuum.
