Abstract

We calculate the field dependence of the low-temperature viscosity $\ensuremath{\eta}(H)$ in normal liquid $^{3}\mathrm{He}$, viewed as a nearly magnetic itinerant-fermion system. In such a picture, we find that $\ensuremath{\eta}(H)$ should increase with $H$ in low fields and at low temperatures. This is in good agreement with the latest experimental data. Such a finding contradicts both an earlier experiment and the possibility for a metamagnetic transition in liquid $^{3}\mathrm{He}$ proposed by other authors.
