Abstract

We have carried out precise measurements of the magnetisation on fcc FeNi single crystals in the Invar region under magnetic fields up to 18 T at temperatures below 300 K. Iterative least-squares analysis of these observations leads us to the result that the magnetisation change consists of a renormalized spin-wave term and a Stoner-type contribution, the coefficient of which decreases linearly with increasing field up to 18 T.
