Abstract
The reduction of leafroll spread in the field was possible with systemic insecticides applied at planting. Except for phorate 44D and demeton in 1960, all treatments limited the spread of leafroll until late in the season. There was no correlation between total number of aphids and leafroll spread, or betweenM. persicae and leafroll spread. Eighty per cent of leafroll spread in 1960 and 59% in 1961 was in the first five plants adjacent to the infected plant.
