Abstract
Fibularis longus is the superficial muscle of the lateral compartment, overlying the fibularis brevis muscle. Fibularis tertius is a muscle of the anterior compartment. The left leg of one of the cadavers of this semester’s gross anatomy course was discovered to have a slip on the anterior side of the fibularis longus muscle break off the muscle and attach to the tuberosity of metatarsal V immediately superior to the tendon of fibularis brevis. No other cadaver in this group was seen to have this version of the muscles.
