Abstract

Rabbit antiserum against rat plasma fibronectin induced histamine release in isolated rat peritoneal mast cells. Immunofluorescence revealed fibronectin on the mast cells in rat mesentery and on the surface of the isolated mast cells. Mast cells adhered to collagen-coated dishes. This cellular adherence was inhibited by the addition of anti-fibronectin. Fibronectin on the surface of mast cells may play a role of attachment of the cells to collagenous connective tissues.
