It is to be expected that breakdown products of fibrinogen and fibrin might find their way into the urine. Fibrinogen breakdown products were measured in the urine of 47 patients with a variety of renal diseases, predominantly the glomerulonephritides. These patients were studied by standard nephrological techniques including renal biopsy. Fibrinogen breakdown products were assayed by a hemagglutination-inhibition technique sensitive to a level of 4 μg/100 ml.
