Abstract

A new variant of the fiber-optic temperature sensor based on low-coherence tandem interferometry without scanning is presented. The sensing element was 500μm thick plane-parallel plate of fused silica. The measurement range determined by the plate thickness was of 40–90°C. The temperature resolution was 0.03°C RMS in the center (linear part) of the range, decreasing to 0.1°C RMS at the edges. Reproducibility of the measurement data was better than 0.2°C.
