Abstract
This article presents a fiber-optic in-line Michelson temperature sensor with the high sensitivity. The in-line Michelson interferometer used as a fiber-optic temperature sensor is composed of a hollow optical fiber spliced to a single-mode standard optical fiber at one end and cleaved at the other end. As the fabrication procedure involving fusion splicing and cleaving, the fiber-optic in-line Michelson temperature sensor is much easier and cheaper to make. The relation between the phase shift and temperature is approximately linear and the sensor sensitivity is about 3.1 radian/°C. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
