Abstract

A new type of fiber-optic sensor that determines pressure from a diaphragm displacement is discussed. This sensing technique automatically compensates for variation in the source intensity, for losses in the input fibers and for variations in the reflectivity of the diaphragm surface. Experimental results are presented for a low-pressure transducer suitable for measuring liquid levels.
