Abstract
Abstract To fabricate the FBG displacement sensor with small size, but large measurement range, fiber grating displacement sensor of tape measure structure was designed. To satisfy the need to assemble a small size displacement sensor, short FBG of 1 mm and 25 mm cantilever beam were written and designed to construct a micro-structure elastic transition body. It found that the sensing characteristics of the elastic transition body are sensitive and have a large linear measurement range. Experimental results show that the linearity of the sensor is 0.9997, the sensitivity is 6.328 pm/mm, the accuracy is about 1.6% FS. The range of the sensor is over 500 mm. Our study provides a new way to fabricate FBG displacement sensor with small size but large measurement range.
