Abstract
One of the specific properties of fiber optic sensors is their capacity to perform in electromagnetically contaminated environments. In the biomedical field of hyperthermia, i.e., the controlled heating of biological tissues by microwave irradiation, there is a need for continuous and high-resolution temperature measurement in the microwave field (Hahn 1982). The temperature sensor signal should be suited for controlling the microwave generator itself in order to follow a well-defined temperature versus time curve of the tissue under treatment.
