Abstract

All-fiber original design of the two-wave (2λ) fiber Raman laser (FRL) is suggested for terahertz telecommunication application. It is shown, that the Raman gain profile in single mode fibers allows realizing the 2λ FRL. It is intended for operation in full range up to 10 THz with proper formation lasing cavities using the fiber Bragg gratings. Modeling results on parameters of laser resonators built on fiber Bragg gratings are presented for three actual terahertz bands. Advantages of the 2λ FRL based on the Raman fiber (silica fiber doped 20 % GeO 2 ) are analyzed in more detail in comparison with the ordinary pure silica fiber recently used for other FRL application. The creation possibility of 2λ FRL as an important part of future telecommunication systems of the terahertz range is demonstrated and it is proved by simulation.
