Abstract

The electron collision cross sections of CF 4 have very singuler forms with very high values of vibrational excitation cross sections in the region of Ramsauer minimum of momentum transfer cross section, and the electron transport properties show peculiar variations with E / N . There have been several reports on the electron swarm data in CF 4 and on the cross section data derived from the swarm data and of beam experiments. In our laboratory, some efforts have also been made using the FFT Monte-Carlo simulation accuratelly to calculate the electron transport properties in CF 4 and to obtain the collision cross sections well fit with the experimental swarm data. However, it has been recognized to be very difficult strictly to reproduce the peculiar transport properties. In this paper, the backgrounds of disagreements between the experimental and the calculated data with various cross section sets are discussed.
